Our joint work with NLP on translation management receives infusion funding from Precarn

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

Today Precarn Incorporated announced funding for 6 collaborative R&D projects of a total of $2.5 million, among these was Palomino System Innovations Inc's joint project with NLP Technologies and Université de Montréal.

This funding infusion will be used to accelerate development of a statistical machine translation (SMT) integration that will interface with Palomino's WebPal CMS content management system to offer one-click translation management. NLP Technologies will be the lead participant in this project, with Palomino providing know-how of Content Management and localization work flow. A mutual licensing agreement will allow WebPal users to benefit from automatic translation service between over 40 languages.

The two companies anticipate that this integrated approach will dramatically decrease content administrator's turnaround time for localization of web sites and web applications. The resulting technology is likely to be available to clients in the third quarter of 2009.
