Markus Latzel, Founder & CEO
Markus Latzel has a track-record of high-technology research and serial entrepreneurship. As a visionary, creativity and dedication have been Markus’ dominant strengths, which have come to bear in various leading positions within academia and industry, such asATI Technologies, Fox Lightware GmbH, IVS Canada Inc, Carleton University, and York University. Markus is a member on the Precarn Intelligent Systems National Expert Advisory Committee, the German Engineering Association, Ontario Centres of Excellence, and the Martin Walmsley Research Fellowship. As CEO of Palomino Inc, Markus has initiated and managed multiple collaborative R&D projects with various industry and university partners. His day-to-day work is to drive and execute Palomino's strategy and oversee the technical vision for the WebPal Product Suite.
Lucas Bombardier, Managing Director
Lucas joined the team through the acquisition of 360 Mediaworx by Palomino. Lucas brings to Palomino a strong foundation of project management experience after serving over 10 years in various directorial positions; starting at Price Waterhouse Coopers, with stops at CDI Education Corp., California-based Corinthian Colleges, and most recently as founder of 360 Mediaworx Inc. As part of his daily work, Lucas oversees Palomino's consulting team, manages integration projects and fosters our client relationships.
Steve Sotirios Stergiopoulos, Director Software Development
Steve has been with our company from day one, being an invaluable contributor to the design and development of our WebPal Suite of products. Steve oversees and coordinates our product development team as well as ongoing system maintenance. With years of experience at various engineering positions in Halifax and Toronto, he has gained significant insight in software development processes and team management. Steve's drive for innovation and quality are an enormous contribution to Palomino's growth strategy.
John K. Tsotsos, Founder & Scientific Advisor
Apart from being co-founder of Palomino and chair of the board of directors, John is currently Distinguished Research Professor of Vision Science in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at York University in Toronto and holds a Canadian Research Chair in Computational Vision. He was Director of York's Centre for Vision Research from 2000 - 2006. John is an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science and of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto, Fellow Emeritus of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research and was a Visiting Scientist for IBM Canada's Centre for Advanced Studies from 1996 - 2003. John advises the Palomino team on latest research in intelligent systems and R&D collaboration opportunities.
Evangelos E. Milios, Scientific Advisor
Currently Associate Dean of Research in Computer Science at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Evangelos has made invaluable contributions to Palomino's ongoing R&D in the areas of content modeling and content mining. Evangelos' team has engaged in multiple sucessful joint R&D projects with Palomino and his degree of excellence in this field is unmatched in Canada. Evangelos received his MSc. and Ph.D. degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, after which he researched and taught at University of Toronto and York University before joining Dalhousie, where he now holds the Killam Chair of Computer Science. When not working on a better google, Evangelos enjoys traveling to Greece and spending time with his family in Halifax.
